I wandered through the massive Halloween decoration and costume section at Target last week and felt a little sad. Sad for the landfill that so much of this stuff is destined to clog in a few months. Sad that my kids are going to parties this year instead of trick or treating in costumes they made themselves. And sad that so few kids do make costumes — or persuade their parents to make them — or do anything creative for this once-all-about-handmade holiday beyond slap down too much money for a costume that will be exactly what 30 % of the other kids are wearing this year. And then the folks at Etsy sent me a link to what the merchants at massive shopping site for all things handmade are selling this year. And I felt better. Handmade isn’t dead. It just isn’t at Target. The vampire baby pacifier above is one example from the massive collection of costumes, decorations, and accessories.  Check it out.

I was crazzy for halloween party in my childhood and still I am not growing and always trying to make a unique costume 😀
Its really very creative to made a Halloween costume at home 😀
I know that when I was growing up I always wanted to have the coolest Halloween costume, but coming from a family of five kids my parents didn’t have a whole lot of money to spend on us. Instead we were very creative as a family and it made the experience of the costume buliding more enjoyable and I appreciated it so much more than I would have just buying a costume. I had a lot of fun times using my imagination creating new ideas for my younger siblings and myself and I can’t wait to grow up and have a family on my own just to do it all over again.
