Breast Cancer Awareness Giveaway

Welcome to October and Breast Cancer Awareness month—perfect timing for a gadget case giveaway.

It takes strength to survive breast cancer. And in honor of the amazing strength of women, Otterbox has launched a special line of its strong iPhone and iPod cases in Pink and is donating 10% of the purchase price “to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to support access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved.”

These cases may be pretty in pink but they are also the cutting edge when it comes to surviving the elements, as well as daily drops and bumps. Check out the pictures Otterbox customers have sent in from places like Antarctica and the Arctic Circle (as well as Disney World) at Planet Otterbox.

But this is a giveaway! So for a lucky three of you, my Geek Girlfriends, a case to fit your phone will be free. All you have to do is comment on this post to enter the drawing. If you win one of these cases, all you will have to do to raise awareness for breast cancer is whip out your iPhone or iPod. Meanwhile, though, this giveaway is about raising awareness, so spread the word: Tweet your followers, email your BFFs, tell your sister, announce it in your Facebook status, and mention it at parties. Help me spread the world. The contest will close at the end of October so you have time to get the word out.

  1. My favorite cousin died of breast cancer and she was only 50 years old. This year I’ve been blogging every day about “pink” products that give back to breast cancer research and support groups, and I think lots of these limited edition items will make great holiday gifts “for the girls.” It is so important raise awareness and support and together we can possibly wipe out, or at least mostly eliminate, this awful disease! Thanks for supporting the cause as well!

  2. Hi from a new member of the Girl Geeks ;^D

I’m a perfect candidate for a pink case — I have an iphone and I’m in the at risk population. My sister and 2 of my first cousins are breast cancer survivors.

And best wishes to you on your book launch!

  3. In addition to money going to this great cause, I like the bright pink b/c I can find it in the mess that is my purse or laptop bag. Not a big fan of the plain black one I bought. Save the boobies!

  4. Wow, the number of people involved in raising awareness about Breast Cancer this year is amazing. Having spent time in a county hospital for several years now and seeing the horrible consequences of lack of screening and ineffective treatment of this disease, I am glad that so many are working to change that!

  5. Like Jill, my family has been hit hard with breast cancer. I’ll spread the word.

Off topic, is there an official shade of pink that must be used for Breast Cancer Awareness month? 🙂

  6. Hey Christina — As a breast cancer survivor, I figure I’m already pretty #$%^(*! educated about the disease, and have done my own personal 1-year marathon for the cause. However, I like the pink IPOD case! And I appreciate friends, relatives and loved ones walking, writing, talking, donating, and giving away lovely free things, all in the interests of eradicating this nasty disease. Thanks! Love the site, will pass on to other savvy gals. Your cousin-in-law, Jeanne

  7. It seems we’ve all been affected by cancer in one way or another. The sooner we find a cure, the better. Think pink!

  8. I agree with Elizabeth, it’s awesome that pink is so easily recognizable with the cause. It’s important to me since breast cancer has slammed my family pretty hard.

  9. I love that Breast Cancer Awareness has become such a huge thing! People know instantly what that pink represents and I think it’s wonderful!
