Happy Ada Lovelace Day

Ada Lovelace –the only legitimate child of the poet George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron — is often called the “first programmer.” She wrote programs for the Babbage Engine, the automatic computing engine built by Charles Babbage. You can see a replica of this engine at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. Or take an online tour of the exhibit and its history and controversy here.

I think we can rightly say that Ada – for whom the Defense Department programming language Ada was named – was the first Geek Goddess.
