Stay and Game Awhile

I am a Mahjong addict. My husband jokes that I’m like one of those Asian women who gamble fanatically at the Mahjong table. Except I never gamble and I’ve never actually played the game on a table. It started when someone gave us a Mahjong board as a present. The tiles were very pretty but we had no idea how to play. Since my husband and I thought it would be fun to learn, though, (and I hate to lose) I decided to learn the game and get my skills up to competition snuff by playing the computer version first. I had just gotten a new laptop at the time and as it happened it came with Mahjong Titans (included with Windows Vista). I got addicted – so much so that I deleted it from my office computer to eliminate temptation. We have still never played the pretty tile version we got as a gift but I am ready!
And that leads me to today’s fun announcement: I now have my own spiffy new gaming site here at GeekGrilfriends.com (thanks to the nice folks at Real Games Syndication). It’s pretty cool. You can hang out here and play games online. Or (if those ads get annoying) download a free trial of just about any casual game that stirs your fancy. If you like the game, feel free to buy it. Every time you buy a game, you are supporting GeekGirlfriends.com. (Thanks!)
I have already downloaded Mahjong Escape – Ancient China and it is seriously cutting into my productivity. It has way more layouts than the version I’ve been playing on my laptop and the music is very “Ancient-China calming.”
And because this is all brand-spanking new, I have a giveaway to go with this announcement. Take a look at my new game portal, let me know what you like and what you think should be different. I’ll choose (randomly) one commenter to win a coupon for a free game.

I LOVE THAT YOU HAVE THIS GAMING SECTION. THE BEST THING FOR US GAMERS IS TO BE ABLE TO REACH A TON OF GAMES AT WILL. I WOULD CHANGE NOTHING BUT I AM SURE OTHERS WILL PROBABLY THINK OTHERWISE. MY TWO BITS. THANKS!
I am in the middle of downloading Braid and can’t wait to try it, then onto Mahjong, which I have always wanted to try!
Thanks-It all looks great-no need to go changing a thing.
bummer!
I need a ‘pixel shader’ Goodness…why do they think I am on geekgirlfriends in the first place-I need help with this stuff! Well, I guess I will be playing Mahjong sooner than I thought!
I’m a gaming newbie. I only use tech to fetch the contents of my friend’s drives after meltdowns or to add on some new part for someone. Playing games for a change would be quite refreshing…like my mom choosing to watch black and white westerns using the rabbit ears connected to her computer. And she’s alternating with black and white dvds of her old favorites as well. She loves it. I find it funny. She’d feel the same way watching me try to master a game.
That is pretty cool that you can have your own gaming portal! I really like Mahjong too - but I have been playing some of the simulation games lately. I didn’t know that Build-a-Lot had come out with #4; I had been enjoying #3 which takes you around the world to build different style houses and landscapes. I’m also excited to try Passage to Perfume - which just sounds really romantic.
The one thing I would change (if possible) is to have a Mac section. I can play all of these online, but very few on the Mac (unless I run parallels).
Congrats on the new portal!
